Egypt vs Algeria.. vs Falloujah November 13, 2009

Yes, I’d love it if the Egyptian team qualified for the Soccer World Cup League, despite the extremely low probability of this happening.

Egypt VS Algeria - Nov. 14th

Egypt and Algeria are playing a very critical game tomorrow, where in order for Egypt to qualify to the World Cup, they have to win by a 3 goals margin – or something like that.  And yes, being an Egyptian myself, it’ll be really cool if Egypt -by some miracle- made that happen.

HOWEVER, if Algeria made it, it’ll also be cool.  I’ll support the Algerian team all the way, and hope they perform well in the world cup league games!!   I’m not being idealistic. I just strongly believe that the strong bonds that connect all the countries in the Muslim, Arab World are too precious to be overlooked and neglected in a situation like this. Think about it, for the rest of the world out there, whether Egypt or Algeria played, it’s all the same. They’re Arabs.  Wouldn’t you wish for the best, most qualified team to be there representing the word Arab, or Muslim?  Wouldn’t you wish that team played so well that their performance stunned the rest of the world?  Yeah, I know, probably neither teams will make that happen, but still, it’s the thought that counts; the thought of how united and strongly-bonded we should and must be at all times — even if it’s just a soccer game, it shows you where we’re standing!

The Battle of Egypt vs Algeria!

What’s up with both countries dealing with it as if it’s a battle waiting to take place tomorrow?  And besides, why don’t we see this much enthusiasm and rivalry when it comes to winning what really matters?  I wish this energy wasted on soccer competition was reserved for something more important, and I wish the media cared to cover with the same level of attention the news that really should matter us!

Falloujah Babies.

I wish the media paid more attention to the reports released couple of months ago showing how newborn babies in Falloujah showed illnesses and deformities in their bodies that doctors say they’ve never ever seen before!!  The percentage of those ill babies are increasing, and the number of deaths have been rising since the year 2004.

FALLUJAH, Jun 12 (IPS) – Babies born in Fallujah are showing illnesses and deformities on a scale never seen before, doctors and residents say.

The new cases, and the number of deaths among children, have risen after “special weaponry” was used in the two massive bombing campaigns in Fallujah in 2004.

After denying it at first, the Pentagon admitted in November 2005 that white phosphorous, a restricted incendiary weapon, was used a year earlier in Fallujah.

In addition, depleted uranium (DU) munitions, which contain low-level radioactive waste, were used heavily in Fallujah. The Pentagon admits to having used 1,200 tonnes of DU in Iraq thus far.

Seriously, wake up people. Let us pay attention to what really matters.
